Lissitzky spent his youth in Vitebsk. from 1909 to 1914 he studied architecture at the Polytechnic School in Darmstadt and in 1916 in the studio of the architect Velikovski. In 1917-1919 he illustrated 8 children's books. After the revolution (in 1919) he was the head of the department of architecture in Vitebsk. Under the influence of Malevich he designed the Prouns. In 1921 he settled in Moscow and designed exhibitions, journals and books. |
