Maiakovskii studied in 1908 and 1909 at the Stroganov Art School in Moscow, and in 1910 at the studios of S. Zhukovskii and P. Kelin. From 1911 to 1914 he studied at the Moscow College for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1912, under the influence of David Burliuk, he turned to poetry. After the revolution he combined poetry and graphic art in his famous ROSTA windows. Together with Osip Brik he founded the magazine LEF and became its editor in chief. In 1930 he committed suicide. |
