Elena Yablonskaya, sister of the artist Nataliya Yablonskaya and daughter of the artist Nil Aleksandrovich Yablonskii who taught at the Smolensk Vkutemas and was the first director of the Smolensk Art Museum. In 1928 the family moved to Odessa. Elena studied in Kiev where the family reunited after the war.
