Born Leningrad, 29 October 1957

Dmitrii Shagin is the son of Vladimir Shagin (1932-1999) an important artist of the Leningrad Underground. He graduated 1975 from the Leningrad Repin Institute. In 1984 he was one of the founders of the Leningrad Mitki group, that combined artists, poets, writers and musicians. The group became the most celebrated phenomenon of informal art in Leningrad.
