Konchalovskii studied at the drawingschool of Ivanova in Kharkov and in 1888 at the Stroganoff Institute in Moscow. He lived 1896-98 in Paris. In 1898-1905 he studied at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg. In 1910 he was co-founder of 'Bubnovyi Valet'. From 1911 to 1922 he was a member of Mir Iskusstva. 1918-1921 he taught at the SVOMAS and 1926-1929 at the VCHUTEMAS/TEIN in Moscow.
