Velimir (Viktor Vladimirovich) Khlebnikov studied biology in Kazan and St. Petersburg, but quit school to become a full-time writer. He joined the Hylaea group founded by Burliuk and became the most influential poet of the Russian futurist movement. He is considered the most significant Russian poet of the 20th century.
