Echeistov studied at the Stroganov Academy in Moscow 1912-18 and, after the revolution, at the Vkhutemas under Favorskii and Masiutin 1919-1927. In 1925 he started book illustration designing over thirty titles of children's books. He was married to Lidia Zholtkevich, an illustrator of children's books herself. Echeistov is also known as a portraitist.
