Bobri (Bobritsky) studied at the Kharkov Art College 1911-1915. In 1920 he emigrated to Constantinople and in 1923 to New York. Bobri was an illustrator, author, composer, educator and guitar historian. He was also a founder of the New York Society of The Classic Guitar in 1936, and served as editor and art director of its magazine, The Guitar Review, for nearly 40 years. Bobri died trying to safe things from his burning house.
