Zhitomirskii studies in Rostov-on-Don at the Studio of A. Silin in the field of posters and advertisments. From 1925 to 1929 het studied in the Moscow Central Sudio of the AKhRR (The Association of Revolutionary Artists). He was an early artist dealing with photomontage. He is best known as a satirical illustrator and poster designer.
