Zelenin studied art at the Sverdlovsk (Ekaterinburg) Pedagogical School. from 1954 to 1957. From 1957 to 1959 he studied at the Academy of Art in Leningrad (together with Mikhail Chemiakin and Oleg Grigoriev) and was expelled before his graduation. He returned to Novokuznetsk were he worked as a painter before moving to Ugor, a village near Vladimir. He became one of the leading artist of the Bulldozer exhbition (with non-conformist art) in september 1974 in Moscow. In 1976 he emigrated to paris where he lived and worked. |
