Zakharov-Ross (Sacharow-Ross) studied from 1964 to 1970 art at the Pedagogical High school in Khabarovsk. In 1972 he went without authorization to Leningrad. In 1978 he was expelled and emigrated to Germany, where he lives and works in Cologne and Munich. He is considered a pioneer in the realm of interdisciplinary art.
