Zakharoff studied 1910-1916 at the Moscow College for painting and sculpting and 1918-1920 at the SVOMAS in Moskou. In 1916 he became a member of the Moscow Artist's Circle and in 1918 of the Union of Russian artists. In 1923 he left Russia via London to New York as a member of the organizing committee of the 'Russian Art Exhibition'. In the USA he worked mainly as a portrait painter.
