Yurii Yurkun, born Juozas Jurkunas, was a close friend of Mikhail Kuzmin and his circle of avant-garde writers and artists. In 1923 he stopped writing and started worked as an a graphic artist. he was married to the artist Olga Gildebrandt-Arbenina. In 1938 he was arrested for treason and executed.
