Son of a diplomat, Youriévitch was born in Paris but spent his youth in Russia where he studied law and mathematics. In 1905 he returned to Paris and studied with Rodin. He worked as an attache to the Russian Embassy in Paris util 1920. Youriévitch became interested in the spiritual after the fourth congress of the International Psychological Institute.
