After her initial art study at the studio of I. Kopylov in Irkutsk, Yaltseva studied 1923 to 1928 at the Leningrad Vkhutemas under I. Radlov, K. Petrov-Vodkin, and A. Rylov. During the war she returned to Irkutsk where she worked at the Theatre for Young Spectators. After the war she returned to Leningrad.
