Vorobev was the illitimate daughter of a Polish forestry official. The Mother had been a Jewish artist. Marevna studied at the Tiflif Art school and at The Moscow Stroganov Institute. In 1912 she settled in paris and became the first woman cubist artist. With Diego Rivera she had a daughter. In 1948 she moved to London. The nickname Marevna (daughter of a fairy sea king) was given her by Maxim Gorky. |
