Died St. Petersburg, 20 February 2002

Vetrogonskii started 1939 studying at the art school of the Leningrad Academy and was evacuated (because of the war)  to Samarkand where he finished is studies. From 1946 to 1951 he studied at the Repin Art Institute. In 1973 he became dean of the graphic faculty of the Repin Institute
