Vasilev studied 1910-1918 at the Moscow Stroganov Institute under A. Baryshnikov and S. Noakovskii. he graduate 1925 of the Moscow Vkhutemas under P. Konchalovskii. From the 1930's onwards he illustrated books for Gosizdat and Detgiz.
