Udaltsova studied at the Studio of K. Yuon together with V. Mukhina, L. Popov and A. Vesnin. In 1912 and 1913 she lived in Paris and studied at the Academie de la Palette. In 1913 she started working with Popova and Vesnin at Tatlin's studio. She became one of the famous Russian Avant-garde painters. She married the painter Aleksandr Drevin, who 1938 was arrested on politcal charges and executed shortly after. Later, Udaltsova, who had been teaching at the Moscow Vkutemas until 1934, was denounced also as a formalist and was forced to leave her positions. |
