Tvardovskii studied 1908-1910 at the Petersburg Polytechnical Institute en 1910-11 at Academie Laurencin in Paris. From 1912 to 1914 he studied at the Petersburg School of Engineers. In 1926 he started working as a director for animation films. In 1925-1926 he worked as an illustrator for children's books. He died during the siege of Leningrad.
