Tsishevskii studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute and was sent to Sverdlovsk to work as an art director to the Ural publishing house. He took part, as a officer of the Red Army, in the war and defeat of Germany. After the war he was the most important illustrator of the magazine 'Youth' in Moscow
