Chelishchev started as an icon painter. In 1918-19 he studied under Ekster and Milman in Kiev. 1920-1921 he emigrated via Constantinopel to Sophia and in 1921-1923 to Berlin where he worked for Der Blaue Vogel [the blue bird]. In 1923-1934 he lived in Paris and in 1934 he left for the USA |
