With the rtreating troops of the tsarist army, Igor Sychëv and his father the artis Efim Sychëv ended up in Manchuria where the father tried to teach his son to become a painter. But Igor preferred architecture, but after 5 years ended that study. He was fascinated by sports, ballets and acrobatics. He went to Shanghai where he worked in a circus and in variety shows under the pseudonym Igos. From 1941 to 1947, he worked as a caricaturist for Russian newspapers in Shanghai and Harbin. After, he returned to the USSR where he worked as a caricaturist for newspapers.
