Suetin, son of a stationmaster, studied at the St. Petersburg Military School where he became interested in art at the mandatory drawing classes. In 1915 he moved with his regiment to Vitebsk and enrolled 1918 in the Vitebsk Art School under Chagall. Suetin nverfelt Chagall's influence but got close to Jean Pougny (Ivan Puni) and Xenia Bogouslavskaia (Ksenia Boguslavskaia). He joined Malevich's Unovis and became a Suprematist artist. in 1923 he mobved to Petrograd where he started worken at the State Lomonosov Porcelain Factory. From 1927 to 1930 he d worked at the Institute of Art History in Leningrad and in 1932 he became chief of the artistic laboratory of the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory. He was married to the artist Anna Leporskaia (1900-1982). |
