Statsinkii, son of the head of the Medical Department of People's Commissariat of Ralways, who was arrested and sshot in 1938, spent some time in the Moscow Butyrka prison during the ware. In 1953 he graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute and worked as an illustrator for the children's journal 'Merry Pictures'. As the publishing houses stopped giving him work in the 1970s, he emigrated 1978 to France.
