An almost
complete overview of the Soviet children's literature was published
between 1933 and 1989 in a twenty-volume bibliography of children's
literature by Ivan Startsev (1896-1967). The philologist Startsev
headed the Publishing House Molodaya gvardiya (Young Guard) and the
children's book department of the State publishing house(Detskaya literatura)in Moscow.
After his death, the bibliography was continued under Boris Shiperovich
and Valentina Zabyaklova until the dissolution of the Soviet Union
in 1991.
