Born Barnaul (Sibiria), 3 June 1931

The family of Starodubtsev moved 1946 to Leningrad, where he studied form 1947 to 1952 at the Leningrad Pedagocical Art School and 1952-1958 at the graphical department of the Leningrad Repin Institute. He worked as an illustrator for the publisher Detskaia literatura (Children's literature) and for the Moscow Animation Film Studio.
