Staritsky adorned the texts by Puel with linocuts and woodcuts that show shapes and lines that seemingly haphazardly are combined to represent animals. These whimsical animal figures are carefully integrated with the text on the pages. Around 1965 these animal-like forms became a frequently used element in staritsky’s works showing a return to a more traditional kind of illustration
