From 1897 to 1909
Soudeikine attended the Moscow Institute of
Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, where he studied under Konstantin
Korovin and Valentin Serov. In 1909
he enrolled at the Petersburg
Academy of Arts and was hired by Diaghilev
in 1912 as scene painter for his
Ballets-Russes. In 1917 he left Moscow for the Crimea and in April
1919 moved to Tiflis wherehe worked mainly as a
muralist and designer. In May 1920 he went to Paris and
in 1922 to New York where he worked for Nikita Baliev's
Chauve-Souris cabaret.
