Sorokin worked during the war as minerdemolisher and joied 1944 the Grekov Military Artist's Studion. From 1945 to 1959 he studied at the Moscow Surikov Art Institute under S. Gerasimov. In 1990he was awarderded the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR.
