Smirnov studied 1920-1928 at the Leningrad Vkhutein under I. Fomin. In the 1920s and 1930s he designed consumer articles, but was critized for his enthousiasm for Constructivism. At the end of the 1930s he also desiged several issues of the Cchildren's magazin Chizh (Siskin, see there). After the war he became the founder of the Leningrad school of Glass Art. |
