Born Kiev, 6 October 1937

 

A graduate of the Odessa Art College and the Repin Insitute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St.Petersburg, Anatoly Slepkov graduated in 1969 with distinction. The subject of his diploma work was illustrations to Alexander Pushkin’s tragedy Boris Godunov, which were later acquired by the All-Union Pushkin Museum. From 1970-74 he taught drawing and composition at the Repin Institute and has since 1972 been a member of the Union of Russian Artists. He has since forged a successful career as a book illustrator, having illustrated a number of Russian and foreign language works of literature as well as familiar books for children.
