Anatolii Shugrin took from 1919 to 1925 evening classes at the Moscow Art School no. 6. and from 1923 to 1930 at the Moscow State Technical School of fine Arts. After graduating he worked at the Mastomkh industrial workshop and later in the Krasnopolianskaia Knitting Factory as a designer. After the war he tought from 1948 to 1966 at the Moscow City Art School no. 1.
