Adalbert Stiren was born in St. Petersburg in the family of a Lutheran pastor. His father, Adolf Stiren, was a professor of theology at the Petrishule and pastor of Petrikirche in St. Petersburg. Adalbert Stiren studied at the Petrishule from 1889 to 1897, then at the School of Technical Drawing of Baron A. L. Stieglitz. He emigrated from Russia to Berlin around 1920 where he lived and worked for Russian-language publishing houses.
