Shterenberg was one of the senior figures in the reorganisation of the visual arts in the postrevolutionary period. Shtereberg studied art in Odessa and in Paris 1906-1917. He was 1918-1921 the Commissar for art and headed the department of Narkompros. He taught 1920-1930 at the Vkhutemas/Vkutein. he organized the First Russian Exhibition in Berlin and the exhibition of The Three with Chagall and Altman. |
