Shishlovskii graduated from the Saratov Art School before he moved to Moscow in 1932. In Moscow he mainly worked as a graphic artist and book designer especially for the publisher Khudozhestvennaia literatura. During the Second World War he worked as a front artist for journals. He lived and worked in Moscow.
