Around 1906 Vera Shekhtel took art lessons at the studio of K. F. Yuon and I. I. Mashkov. She particpated in exhibition organized by the Union of the Youth and other avant-garde groups. In the 1920s she taught applied art and designed theatrical shows for children. in the 1940s she mainly worked as a scenographer.
