Sedelnikov studied at the Moscow School of drawing and Lithography before he studied in 1924 and 1925  at the Moscow Vkhutemas where he was influenced by El Lissitzky and A. Rodchenko. He was one of the founding members of the Moscow artists's association Oktiabr. Together with Lissitzky he designed the Pressa exhibition in Cologne and with Rodchenko the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris and 1939 in New York.
