Шерстяной, Валерий Михайлович

Born Sagiz, 3 September 1950

Scherstjanoi, born in a Soviet concentration camp in Kazakhstan,  studied 1971-1976 German philology at the Kuban State University in Krasnodar. In 1979 he emigrated to the GDR and became a German citizen in 1985. He works as a poet in the Russian Zaum tradion of the 1910s. Since the early 1980s he has been participating in various exhibitions and performances of visual and concrete poetry together with his brother Lev Scherstjanoi. He lives and workes in Berlin.
