Schattenstein studied in Vilnius before he studied at the Vienna Academy of Art. He worked in Vienna as a portrait painter and was commissioned to paint the peace conferences held at Brest-Litovsk in 1917. In 1920 he emigrated to New York and made himself a name as a portrait painter for the establishment. |
