Born Moscow, 19 February 1947

Rubinsthein graduated from the philological department of the Moscow pedagogical Institute (now MGSU) and started working as a bibliographer and an essayist. In the early 1970s he developed his own style of minimalism. Inspired by the library cards he put poetic lines on cards and generated a kind of index that bordered on verbal, visual and performance art.
