Vera Rockline, born Vera Nikolaevna Shlezinger, was the daughter of a Russian father of German descent and a French mother. She studied at the Moscow studio of Ilya Mashkov and at Aleksandra Ekster's studio in Kiev. As an abstract and cubist painter she had succesful exhibitions in Moscow. In 1918 she married the Frenchman Rockline with whom she fled to Tiflis before settling in Montparnasse, Paris, in September 1921. She took her own life in 1934. |
