Zvi Ribak studies at private studio's in Kiev, but had no formal art education. He studied at the Kharkov Technological Institute and worked as an electrician in a coal mine. He fought as a Red Army soldier during the Second World War. In 1948 he emigrated to Israel where he worked as an engineer in Tel Aviv.
