Pougny studied painting in the studio of Repin and in 1910 at Academie Julian in Paris. Together with Annenkov he traveled Italy and in 1913 he married the artist Bogouslavskaia. He joined the Union of the Youth group in Moscow and designed book for the Russian futurists. He joined the Knave of Diamonds group and exhibited with Malevich and Tatlin in the last futurist exhibition 0.10. In 1918 he taught at the Petrograd Svomas and in 1919 he went to Vitebsk on the invitation of Chagall. He exhibited for the last time in Russia in 1920 in Pskov before traveling to Berlin. In Berlin he illustrated with his wife some children's books. In 1924 he emigrated to Paris. |
