Died Paris, 12 October 1969

Poliakoff studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture until 1918 when he fled Russia over Constantinople, Sofia, Belgrade and Berlin to settle in Paris in 1923. There he studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere. Until he met Kandinsky and Sonia and Robert Delaunay, around 1935, he painted in a more academic style, before starting to paint in an abstract way.
