Petrov-Vodkin studied 1895-1897 at the Stieglitz College in St. Petersburg; 1897-1905 at the Moscow College for Art and Architecture under Kasatkin, Archipov and Serov; 1901 in Munich at the School of Azbe and 1905-1908 in private studio's in Paris. 1908 he returned to St.Petersburg In 1921 he took part in an expedition to Samarkand and 1924-25 he stayed in Paris. 1925-1939 he was head of the painting departement of the Academy in Leningrad. |
