Perovskaia studied 1923-1926 at the Biological faculty of the Moscow State University. She worked as a writer of children's books about Animals. After her husband, the writer Grigorii Zamchalov, died in the war, Perovskaia was 1950 sentenced to 10 years in exile, but was released in 1955 and rehabilitated in 1959.
