Pailes studied sculpture at at the
Kiev Art School. In 1913 he went to Paris and lived in La Ruche (The
Beehive). In 1914 he hat to return to Russia but returned to Paris in
1919. In 1920 Pailes abandoned sculpture and started painting. During
World War II he lived in the south of France where he joineda resistant
group. In 1944 he returned to Paris and painted 1948 his first abstract
painting. He worked and lived in Paris as a member of L'Ecole de Paris. |
