Born Leningrad, 7 February 1941

In 1965, Ostrov graduated from the Faculty of Graphics, Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the Leningrad Repin Institute. He illustrates children's books from the early 1960s and became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia in 1970. He was awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts and designed and illustrated more than two hundred books.
