Ostroumova-Lebedeva studied 1889-1892 under Novoskoltsev and Manizer at the A. Stieglitz School in St. Petersburg and 1892-1900 at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg under Repin, Chistiakov, Mate and Savitskii. In1898-1899 she studied under Whistler in Paris and under Bakst in Zantseva Art-workshop in St. Petersburg. Travels to Italy in 1903 and 1911, to France in 1906 and to Spain in 1914. In 1899 she was co-founder of the Mir Iskusstva group. In 1934 and 1935 she taught at the Academy in Leningrad.
